The new LCDI cordsets comply with UL s 484 listing requirements, which specifies that single-phase portable room air conditioners manufactured after August 1,2004 contain either a factory installed LCDI or AFCI protection device to reduce the risk of an arc fault occurring in the air conditioner s power cord.
Available in 15 Amp and 20 Amp,125 volt and 250 volt ratings and 30-amp,250 volt ratings, the LCDI cordsets provide a reliable and economical way to prevent the risk of fire due to a damaged power cord. The devices are suitable on window/sleeve, windowless, spot cooler and PTAC models. They feature electronic detection technology to automatically cut off power to the unit when a current leakage condition is detected in the unit s power cord. Once power is shut-off, the device will not be able to be reset until the unsafe current leakage situation is resolved.
The devices feature a compact housing made of high-impact polycarbonate to ensure a long service life and ergonomic test and reset buttons to facilitate regular testing of the device by users. The devices are factory wired to customers specifications for color, length and termination. Their housings accept cord sizes from 18-10AWG, depending on the model.
